Fun!
I think it is so important to choose a camp with a great theme that keeps the kids engaged. It’s important to find something that they look forward to everyday. Something that is unique enough that you can’t really offer in the same way at home. Fun = challenging + exciting. It’s the best when you find a camp that is fun + teaches the kids a new skill that they are so proud to master by the end of the week. Pedalheads totally meets this.
Self-motivating
I remember going to a summer camp/preschool as a kid in the summer + dreading it some days. That’s the worst! I think the key to finding a camp the kids can’t wait to get to is finding a camp centered on a specific skill or set of skills that is taught by instructors or coaches that will help the kids achieve the specific goal by the end of the camp. When kids get motivated to achieve a goal at camp, they can learn to transfer that skill or mindset to other things, like academics. Learning to ride a bike is the perfect skill to try + try again. What is more self-motivating than learning to ride a bike with no training wheels, learning new tricks + skills on a bike, or shredding it on a big trail?!
3. ATHLETIC-ORIENTED
Summertime is the perfect time to get the kids outside + active! Mastering a skill like riding, swimming or biking is a skill the kids will take with them into adulthood. Invaluable. Plus, keeping active for a half day or full day of camp makes for a day of fun + a night of rest for both the kids + parents! My kids rode about 6 miles of trails each day + completely loved it. Pedalheads offers just the right balance of water breaks, games, skill work + challenging opportunities.
4. SAFE
Safety is key for any camp. Camp is no fun if they get hurt! As parents, we also want to know the camp has procedures in place to increase safety, right? Pedalheads has great safety protocols in place + is nut free. As a food allergy parent myself, I feel like if a camp is going to go the extra mile to keep kids with food allergies safe, they will go the extra mile to keep all kids safe as well.
5. THE MEMORIES!
Bike parades! Personalized bike license plates! Games! Shredding! Snacks! Arts + Crafts! Red Light, Green Light! Taking off the training wheels! New friends! Fun coaches!
6. Independence
Independence is gained in steps. Ans, summer camp is a great time to make great strides. Pedalheads offers instructors that give your child the courage to conquer their fears + activities that boost children’s self-assurance through goal-oriented lessons.
7. Tried + True!
Pedalheads has taught over 500,000 kids. For over 30 years, Pedalheads has been a leader in children’s programming, including learn-to-ride bike camps, swim lessons, and sport programs. The goal at Pedalheads is to positively impact communities by teaching children life skills through fun and exciting physical activity.
