Do you make fresh popcorn on the stove top? If not, you will love this plain, fresh popcorn in and of itself! You can also make this project as intensive or as simple as you’d like. Create one color of white chocolate or five! It just depends how you’re feeling + how many bowls you’re up to washing after.
Ingredients:
Popcorn kernels
Oil (Vegetable or macadamia)
White Chocolate
Food Coloring
Supplies:
Stockpot with lid
Plastic Easter eggs
Egg carton
Directions:
Place your stock pot on the stove top. Pour vegetable oil or macadamia oil in the bottom of the pan. Pour in enough oil to fully cover the bottom. Gently pour in popcorn kernels. Pour in only enough kernels to cover the bottom of the pot in one layer. If you pour in too many kernels to create two layers of kernels or more, they won’t pop. Place the top on the stock pot, turn heat on high + listen closely for popcorn to pop. Once the popping slows down, remove from heat and pour into a large bowl, do not let the popcorn cool in the pan, it will burn.
Melt white chocolate in a microwave bowl. Create one color or the rainbow! Pour or break white chocolate chunks into the bowls, most white chocolate will melt in one minute to 1:30 after microwaving. Heat for 30 second increments and then stir. Once fully melted, add the amount of food coloring drops you’d like to make the color pastel or vibrant. Also add 1/4 tsp of oil, stir. Pour and drip over popcorn. You can pour over popcorn in a large bowl + stir for more of a tye-dye look. Or, spread popcorn out on a large baking sheet + drip melted chocolate over popcorn. Repeat with as many colors as you’d like.
Eat directly out of a large popcorn bowl, or place in clean easter eggs for some extra fun!
